June 2025 Construction Updates
Recent Activities:
All longitudinal drainage runs between stations on Old Rum Trail east and west of Madden Road have been completed with the cross pipes left out to avoid damage during trucking operations.
Sand and crushed stone have been placed on Old Rum Trail off Madden Road.
Drilled shafts for phase 1 of the bridge have been completed and accepted.
The first concrete placement for the western abutment took place on May 29th.
Excavation of the Shields Brook stormwater basin site was completed with the exception of rock located in the southwest corner of the pond.
The multi-use trail from north of the Shield Brooks Bridge to just north of Haley Drive has been excavated to subgrade.
Drainage along Folsom Road was started excluding the JVK Auto area.
Blasting along Folsom Road for drainage was begun.
Slope work is being performed as work is completed along Madden Road, Aghadowey Ave, and Old Rum Trail.
Upcoming Activities:
Blasting will continue in Shields Brook stormwater basin site and the stormwater basin site opposite Manchester Avenue, as well as along Folsom road for drainage.
Drainage work along North High Street will start with test pits to confirm the location of underground utilities.
Eversource has awarded a contract for the aerial relocations and installation of priority utility poles is anticipated to start in June.
Installation of drainage along Folsom Road will continue.
Madden Road will be connected to Old Rum Trail and temporarily brought down to the Madden Road/North High Street intersection so the existing connection can be removed in preparation of the future intersection.
May 2025 Construction Updates
Recent Activities:
Drainage work along Madden road is near completion.
Drainage work starting at the 13065A/B interface has begun and is progressing to the east.
Drilled shafts for the western abutment phase 1 have been completed.
Drilled shafts at the eastern abutment have been drilled, and are ready for concrete.
Construction of BMP 19 is complete.
Overburden has been removed from the ledge located at the stormwater basin.
Areas between Franklin Street Extension and the Royal T car wash have been excavated to subgrade.
A temporary 72” pipe has been installed to carry Shields Brook beneath Folsom road and allow for drilled shaft B4 to be installed at the future eastern abutment.
Upcoming Activities:
Drainage work from the west end of the job will continue heading east, then will pick up east of Franklin street heading further east.
Drilled shaft work at the Shields Brook bridge eastern abutment will be completed in the first week of May.
Installation of priority utility poles is anticipated to start in May.
Blasting of ledge for the stormwater basin will begin in the second week of May.
Installation of drainage along Old Rum Trail and Folsom Road will continue.
Madden Road will be connected to Old Rum Trail and temporarily brought down to the Madden Road/North High Street intersection so the existing connection can be removed in preparation of the future intersection.
April 2025 Construction Updates
Recent Activities:
Aghadowey Avenue has been constructed to its final configuration.
All asbestos abatement and demolition has been completed.
Installation of drainage has begun on Old Rum Trail and Madden Road.
Drilling for the bridge drilled shafts has begun at the western abutment.
Construction of a stormwater basin off the east side of High Street is underway with excavation to subgrade and outer slopes being completed in the last week of March.
All trees east of the car wash have been cut and stumps are being removed.
Upcoming Activities:
Continuing stump removal between the car wash and Franklin Street.
Drilled shaft work at the Shields Brook bridge western abutment will continue and move to the eastern abutment when complete.
Installation of Utility Poles is anticipated to start in April.
Building out of an entire a stormwater basin off the east side of High Street is expected this month.
Installation of drainage along Old Rum Trail will continue.
Area between Franklin Street and the carwash will be excavated to subgrade as needed.
